Specifications Submission Form - Roofing & Siding



Use this form to specify the roofing and siding panel requirements for your project: Flexbeam, Flexrib and panels. Complete this form and then submit it online, or print out and complete our text-only form.

1.0 Work Scope

Furnish or furnish and install the wall and/or roof system designated as:

with related accessories as outlined in these specifications and drawings, where applicable. Material shall be furnished by Flexospan Steel Buildings, Inc., Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania. All other manufacturers shall be approved by the architect prior to the bid date.

2.0 Materials

Materials furnished under this specification shall be as follows:

2.2 Insulation Insulation shall be Fiberglass-type blanket faced with WMP10 vinyl of the following thickness:

2.3 Interior Liner shall be Flexospan FL-24 Liner Panel and shall be manufactured from:

Liner panel shall have three stiffening ribs placed 6" on center and shall have an overall width of 24". If stiffening ribs are unacceptable, be aware that the surface of the liner panel might "oil can," because of tolerances in the base .

The liner panel shall be attached to the structural steel with No. 14 x 1" self-tapping screws, or 12/14 x 1" Tek 3, self-drilling screws. The exposed side of the Galvanized liner shall be:

2.4 Sub girts shall be 1/2" or 3/4" and manufactured from 16- or 18-gauge galvanized steel and shall be attached to the liner panel at a maximum of 4' 0" on center. Sub girts shall be attached to the liner panel with No. 14 x 3/4" sheet- screws with hex heads.

2.5 Insulation: Sandwich Panels shall be 1 1/2"-thick, unfaced semi-rigid board. Insulation shall be friction fit and compressed behind the sub girts.

2.6 Exterior Panel Finish. Exterior panels shall be finished with:

Color shall be selected from the Manufacturer's standards.

2.7 Fastening of Exterior Panels

  1. Exposed Fastener Panels

Exposed fastener profiles shall be attached with No. 14, self-tapping screws when attached to a sub girt with a No. 14 x 3/4" sheet screw, or 12/14 x 1" self-drilling screws with sealing washers. When used with color-coated exterior panels, fastener heads shall be the same color as the panel. Fasteners used for attaching aluminum, stainless steel, Type II aluminized steel or Galvalume®/Acrylume®, shall be of an approved type.

  3. Concealed Fastener Exterior Panels

  4. Concealed fastener exterior panels shall be positive fastened only, no clip-type fastening shall be permitted. When fastened directly to structural steel, panels shall be attached with No. 14 x 1" self-tapping screws. When used in conjunction with a FL-24 liner panel and sub girt, the exterior panel shall be attached using No. 14 x 3/4" sheet screws, or 12/14 x 1" Tek 3 self-drilling screws.

2.8 Flashing. All flashing shall have the same gauge and finish as the exterior panel.

3.0 Installation

3.1 Tolerance Requirements. No panels shall be erected if the structural steel does not meet the tolerances of the A.I.S.C. Code, Section 7. It is the responsibility of the contractor to examine this alignment before the panels are erected. The Contractor is responsible for properly installing the roof system and ensuring that all purlins or sub-framing members are properly installed.

3.2 Appearance. Due to the inherent tolerances of base , any flat surface panels could have some "oil canning". This will not be a basis for panel rejection.
